Arriving

HelpARRIVING

When arriving in Queenstown, passengers move to Passport Control and will need to have the following documents ready:

  • Passport
  • Completed passenger arrival card

Once processed you may proceed to Bag Claim to collect your bags.

HelpIMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS

Unless you are a New Zealand citizen, resident or from a visa-free country (Japan is a visa-free country) you will probably be required to have a valid visa before entering New Zealand.
Visitors who are not required to have a visa will still need to show:

  • A return travel ticket or evidence of onward travel arrangements
  • Evidence that you have sufficient money available to fund your visit
  • Completed passenger arrival card

For further information about visas and other immigration requirements, please visit the New Zealand Immigration Service website at www.immigration.govt.nz or visit one of their branch offices.

HelpBAG CLAIM

Bags can be collected from the bag belt.

Trolleys are provided for your convenience.

HelpANYTHING TO DECLARE

The Passenger Arrival Card (PAC) is a legal document, you need to read it carefully, fill it in completely, and answer truthfully about what you are bringing into New Zealand.
If you are bringing any item listed on the PAC you must declare it on the card. A Customs Officer and/or Quarantine Inspector will speak to you about the item you specify and decide if any further intervention is necessary. Be aware that there are strict penalties for non declaration of risk items from both NZCS and MPI standpoints.

HelpWHAT TO DECLARE

It is important to remember that you must declare on your passenger arrival card any animal or plant item you have with you, or packed in your luggage.

Don’t forget to declare any necessary items, as there are severe penalties for failing to declare articles that are prohibited, restricted or for which you are required to pay duty/sales tax.

For further information about what can and cannot be brought into New Zealand, please visit www.biosecurity.govt.nz/enter/declare.

HelpAGRICULTURE & QUARANTINE

Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is a new ministry formed from the merger of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Fisheries and the New Zealand Food Safety Authority.

It is the job of MPI to ensure that New Zealand remains free from harmful pests and diseases. Strict laws are in place for all travellers and belongings entering New Zealand (by air or sea).
You will find information about what to expect on arrival, what paperwork is needed, and what you can and cannot bring into New Zealand in the Personal Travellers section of the MPI website.
