New CEO Announced for Queenstown Airport
January 2012
Queenstown Airport is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Paterson as it’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Scott is replacing Steve Sanderson who is leaving to become the Chief Executive Officer of Wellington Airport.
“The Queenstown Airport Board is very pleased that Scott will be joining the Airport team,” said John Gilks, Chairman, Queenstown Airport. “We were certainly attracted by Scott’s track record in CEO and senior management roles in Australian and New Zealand sea-ports, which strongly correlate to the airport business.”
“Scott has wide experience in the infrastructure and transport businesses and in project management. This experience will be of significant value to Queenstown Airport in maximizing its opportunities for profitable growth and contribution to the Queenstown community for the future,” he said.
Previously Scott was Chief Executive Officer of Port of Portland in Victoria, Australia, for four years.
In this role he helped transform the Port by renewing relationships with Government, business and a small community by building and demonstrating the Ports contribution to the region’s economies.
In addition he was Chairman of the Committee for Portland and oversaw the planning, funding and customer needs to promote investment in the Port and region.
Prior to his time in Australia Scott was General Manager of Logistics at the Ports of Auckland for four years. His other positions have included roles within the Fletcher Building group including General Manager of Dimond Industries, Cyclone and Winston Aggregates.
Earlier in his career Scott worked for Ernst and Young as a consultant responsible for mergers and acquisitions.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges of this new role and to continuing the spectacular growth Queenstown Airport has experienced in recent years for the benefit of the entire region,” said Scott.
Scott holds both Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Auckland and is an Associated Chartered Accountant.
Scott will take up his new position on 1 March 2012.
